The tarantula hobby is exploding at this moment, and has been growing for the last few years! This is super exciting to me, and I can’t wait to see what these changes bring as far as new discoveries about these spiders, as well as the creativity new and experienced owners alike bring to the table.

As we get more advanced in the hobby, I have seen some of the most BEAUTIFUL tarantula enclosures that really push the envelope when it comes to thinking outside the box and providing beautiful homes for tarantulas. I have always been super inspired, and try to take some pointers when I think about my own tarantulas’ decor. Here are some of my favorite ideas – hopefully they can inspire you too!

First, I’d like to share my own tried and true methods. My chilean rose hair, Spidey, is in a basic glass 10 gallon tank, but I have found some very special pieces that make her home a lovely place to be (and I’m a little jealous lol). Here are two of my favorite purchases:

The geometric dome:

This dome is something she has LOVED. I love it because it’s clear and it gives her the feeling of shelter and coziness while still allowing me to spy on her. She loves going in it. In her last rehouse, I buried it underground to give her a more secretive hide – it was the best thing I did! She got more privacy and darkness, and I got to observe her sneaky behavior!

I’m also really happy about the miniature figurines I put in her enclosure. She didn’t do much with them except tip them over, but I think they add a lot of fun and personality to her enclosure.

Now for the enclosures that inspire me. I don’t know how “realistic” these are (and some of them may be unsafe tbh) but I love the concepts! I am especially fond of built in ideas that make our tarantulas part of our home decor.

They are so pretty! I am also very obsessed with terrarium containers, and think these could be amazing enclosure ideas for smaller tarantulas. Here are some amazing ones I found that has holes built in them! I particularly love circular enclosures because they are different and also provide 360 viewing opportunities!

This one is absolutely stunning, but it would need holes/vents!

I think terrariums can be SUCH a beautiful idea for an enclosure, but unfortunately they’re not very realistic at the moment. Most of these are made of glass, which might be challenging for a tarantula owner to make holes in because many of them don’t come with holes already. It would be AMAZING if they would make them out of acrylic or plastic! What I might suggest is that a tarantula owner might take the door off and replace it with an acrylic door with holes. Tarantula owners are very creative, so maybe they could find away to make these other gorgeous terrariums more spider-friendly.

I am obsessed! Please let me know what you think of these suggestions!
