Great video! You are way more relaxed and effortless in the second half of the DIY video. Just chillin on the floor working on the project projected a more casual real person feel that suits you well and has better flow. Thanks for all the work you do.
Hello, Our pet tarantula “Chula” found us a couple of months ago when he appeared in our kitchen. We live in Sonoma County, California, so I’m assuming it’s a California tarantula(Aphonopelma smithi)? . I originally didn’t want to keep him, but ended up falling legs over heels 😉 for him/her. We have purchased a tank, have a water dish and substrate inside, with a warming pad underneath to keep the temp at about 70ish. We feed him/her “gut loaded” crickets. I’m just not sure we taking as good a care of him/her as we could. Not the most active spider, doesn’t burrow like I thought he/she would and read. Appears to shed a white powdery stuff now and then… recommendations and thoughts appreciated on how to take the best care of our new pet!
Congrats on your spider and what an amazing story! I’m glad you decided to keep him and provide a good home 🙂 Sometimes the lack of burrowing has to do with the type of substrate. I use Eco earth coconut husk fibre and my tarantulas love digging with it. But it all depends on the spider – some just don’t burrow. It sounds like you are taking great care of them! If you don’t already have a hide in the tank, that would be my only other suggestion – providing a hollow log or little cave for the spider might be much appreciated by the spider since they like dark secret places lol.
Hi Tarantula Heaven – Thank you for your good work on these magazines. In the past I’ve printed the PDF versions, but I want to know if your print versions are printed on special paper or have special binding and print clarity?
Hi Garry! Thanks so much for your message and I’m so glad you like the magazines! Yes, the magazines are on thicker, glossy and high quality paper with perfect binding on the side (the kind magazines use). They are really nice but unfortunately Magcloud, the company that prints the magazines, can be a bit pricey as they are not mass produced. You can see the prices to get a print copy here: https://www.magcloud.com/user/tarantulaheaven
Hi, i have a question. A mexican redknee tarantula can be 15 cm with legs included, but a unwritter rule is that the length gotta be 3 times (for the mexican redknee) 15 cm and the width gotta be the amount of cm twice. Its recommendet to keep em’ in atleast 30x30x30 cm but thats way smaller. My question is: Can i keep a (fullgrown) redknee tarantula in a terrarium which is 35 cm in length, around 20/25 cm in width and 20 cm in height? Thank you !
